Life Story
On Wednesday, 30th April 1930 at a place called Rongai in Nakuru District and now referred to
as Nakuru County, Gladwell Muthoni Gathu was born to her parents, the late Timon Mbugua Kahara and the late Esther Njambi Pere.
She was named Muthoni, after her aunt, a sister to her father.
She was the first child of my father. Before my mother married Timon, she had been married to his elder brother Ngotho Kahara, but after he passed away, as per the Gikuyu customs then, she was inherited by his younger brother.
They had been blessed with three children, my half-sisters Mrs. Eunice Wanjiru Ngโangโa, Mrs. Rahab Kabura Njenga and Mrs. Damaris Gachigi Michobo.
The other siblings are Mrs. Daisy Mingina Mwangi, the late Mr. Chris
Kahara Mbugua, Mr. Richard Pere Mbugua and the late Mr. Edward
Muchene.
Later on, my father married Mrs.
Beatrice Wambui and they had other
children. They are my half-brother
