Francis Waweru Mwaura

Francis Waweru wa Mwaura wa Thotho wa Kiarie wa Maragu wa Migwi wa Mbothu was born on 15th September 1964 at Nguka Village – Mwea East Sub-county, Kirinyaga County. He was the son of the late Stephano Mwaura Thotho and Teresia Njeri Mwaura and was the 14th of the 19 children of the late Stephano. The other 18 brothers and sisters are Beth Njeri, Esther Nyambura, John Kiarie, the late Francis Thotho, the late Ben Kabiru, the late Eunice Waringa, Jack Wambiga, the late Samuel Njoka, Hannah Wanjiku, Pauline Wambui, Esther Nyambura Simon Muranga, Peter Ngugi. Anne Wanjiku, James Ngaruiya, Elizabeth Wangari, John Kiarie and Kevin Ndegwa. Francis started schooling in 1972 at Nguka Primary school where he sat for Certificate of Primary Examination (CPE) in 1978. He proceeded to form one at Mwea Secondary School in 1979 and sat for O-level Kenya Certificate of Education (KCE) in 1982. In 1983, he joined Kakamega High School for A-level Education. He sat for Kenya Advance Certificate Examination (KACE) in 1984 and managed to secure admission at the University of Nairobi to undertake a Bachelor of Science degree in statistics and computer science from 1986 and graduated in 1989. In the spirit of wanting to further his education, he undertook a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at ESAMI Arusha Tanzania between 2003 and 2006 and also undertook various professional courses in Information Technology (IT) and Business Management. Francis started working in the year 1990 at the Microcomputer Information Systems Department (MISD) at the Ministry of Finance as a Computer Programmer. By the year 2003, he had risen to the position of Chief Systems Analyst at Government Information Technology Services (GITS). Between 2003 and 2010 he served in various Government departments and Directorates as an Assistant Director. Since 2015 to the time of his demise, he was working at the ICT Authority as a Deputy Director in charge of Information Technology standards.
